ACME Archives/HotArt own artwork which was previously approved by Disney and then they decide to interpret it into a pin. Disney then has to approve the pin in each stage of production. This pin was available via subscription only. This limited edition of 100 pin is based off artwork by Eric Tan called The Little Mermaid. It features an artistic version of Ariel (as a pin on pin) swimming and swirling around with her aquatic friends in a sea of a translucent blue. To my knowledge, there has never been a pin with so many pin on pin features as this one! There are 7 fish, a sting ray, a turtle and two of Ariels friends – Flounder the fish and Sebastian the crab that are pin on pin as well to give the pin movement and dimension. They get mailed to you, so most come with some flaws. The pin in the pictures is the one you will receive. This pin has two noticeable imperfections that are highlighted in the pictures. There is a small black dot on Ariels left arm. The screen-printing of the pattern on the turtles shell is incomplete. When purchasing this amazing pin you will receive everything seen in the pictures: the 4.5L x 4.75H pin, 4L x 6H lithograph of the inspiration artwork, a magnetic plaque with the name of the piece and the artists name and a gold numbered presentation box that measures 7.5L x 10H.
