This is an interesting piece. It’s a piece from the old MGM Studios Backlot tour, closed in 2014. If you remember that attraction and you can do a search, there were props from other Disney Parks as well as movies on the attraction. This is an old style brass candlestick and candle. The candle is not real it looks like it might have lit up at one time but it does not now. Wouldn’t be surprised if it did light up before, but often times things are decommissioned after they leave the attraction. So this would have been decommissioned after it was used on Pirates and put into storage. It simply says pirates on the tag, so I’m not sure if this was supposed to be from Pirates of the Caribbean ride, or Pirates of the Caribbean the movie. Or some other Pirates movie that was in the Disney catalog. Though the tag appears old, I doubt this was an actual prop tag. I think it’s was made and done for the attraction. I do not believe that the Backlot attraction had an actual prop storage facility. It was really just for show. However, even though it was just for show and it wasn’t an actual prop storage facility these things were actually props from movies and the attractions. They had a section of Epcot props and props from other parts of Walt Disney World so it certainly makes sense that this would have come from Pirates of the caribbean. The prop measures about inches 14 1/2 tall in total. The Candlestick part is brass and the candle part is made of something else I do not know what that is made of.

THIS ALBUM CONTAINS PINS FROM THE MULTIPLE RECREATIONAL AREAS OUTSIDE OF THE WALT DISNEY WORLD PARKS AND RESORTS. GRAND TOTAL 93 PINS. DISNEY SPRINGS HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MANY CHANGES OVER THE YEARS. WHEN THERE WAS ONLY THE MAGIC KINGDOM, DOWNTOWN DISNEY CONSISTED OF ONLY A SMALL GROCERY STORE (WITH A WINE TASTING AREA) AND THE “FULTON” RIVERBOAT. THE RIVERBOAT WAS WHERE THE CHARACTER BREAKFASTS WERE HELD.. THEN “DOWNTOWN MARKET PLACE” WAS ADDED. IT CONTAINED A WHOOPING SEVEN STORES!! … NIGHTTIME ENTERTAINMENT WAS NEEDED SO “PLEASURE ISLAND” WAS CONCEIVED. THERE WERE SEVERAL STORES IN THAT AREA WHICH DURING THE DAY WERE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE. BUT WHEN THE SUN WENT DOWN THE ENTRANCES AT BOTH ENDS WERE CLOSED. THE AREA TURNED INTO A NIGHTCLUB ATMOSPHERE… COMPLETE WITH LIVE MUSIC… FLASHING LIGHTS AND FIREWORKS EVERY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. IT COULD BE A ROWDY CROWD!! OH, BY THE WAY.. SOMEWHERE IN THE MIX OF ALL THAT CAME PLANET HOLLYWOOD…. STORES WERE BUILT TO FILL IN THE GAPS BETWEEN ALL THESE AREAS… AND THE REST OF HISTORY WILL BE LISTED AS DISNEY SPRINGS. THERE ARE 18 PINS FOR THE DOWNTOWN AREA. 11 PINS FROM THE MINI-GOLF AND WATER PARKS. TAKE NOTE THAT ON OF THESE PINS IS FOR “RIVER COUNTRY”. BUILT IN 1976 THIS WATER PARK WAS LOCATED IN THE FORT WILDERNESS CAMP GROUNDS. IT HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR MANY YEARS… (THE RUINS ARE STILL THERE UNACCESIBLE TO THE PUBLIC). TRAVEL CLUB AND VACATION CLUB ARE THE NEXT PAGE. THERE ARE 28 PINS ON THIS PAGE. ADVENTURES BY DISNEY PAGE CONTAINS 14 PINS. THERE ARE 22 PINS FROM WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS.
