For the Main Gate Entrance to the short-lived Six Flags Power Plant. Theme Park in Baltimore, produced by Landmark Entertainment Group. Six Flags Power Plant was a Steampunk Victorian-themed indoor park, styled after Disneyland’s Main Street, USA, as well as the turn of the century World’s Fair. Landmark was the equivalent of Disneyland’s Imagineering, and designed attractions for Universal, Six Flags, and many entertainment-themed resorts around the world. Over the years, Landmark contracted some of the biggest names in the biz: Herb Ryman, Marc Davis, Don Dixon, Ed Sotto, Eric Heschong, Greg Pro… In addition to theme park and attraction design, Landmark also produced the Masters of the Universe live-action movie, and Captain Power for TV. This stunning piece is unsigned by the artist, but is likely by Michael Marquez. The art is on thick illustration board. The piece is 24″x 15″, and the image area measures 9 1/2″ x 19″ and the art is in excellent condition, having been stored in their archive for the past 20 years. There is some smudging in the white area, likely caused by the artist, which could be matted out when framed. Such as this piece is rarely offered for sale – it is usually held by the design firm or the company, like Disney’s legendary Archives. Also, pieces such as this are becoming increasingly rare, as most concept art is now created digitally.
